The Sutherland District Trade Union Club (Tradies) became a registered club in 1960 and quickly grew into a neighbourhood centre where the community could gather, relax and enjoy themselves. From its humble origins, Tradies has continued to grow and develop to meet the needs of the community.
Tradies amalgamated with Caringbah RSL in March of 2009. This merger resulted in more facilities being available for patrons, and also more opportunities for Tradies team members. Since the amalgamation, Tradies Caringbah has come into its own as the perfect venue to visit for patrons looking to relax and unwind.
Formed in 1945, the Sub Branch has grown from humble beginnings to the impressive corporate possession that stands today. The Sub-Branch consists of approximately 200 members from a diverse range of backgrounds, including veterans from World War II through to current members of the Australian Defence Forces.
Tradies expanded into the Illawarra region in February 2015 through an amalgamation with The Helensburgh Workers Club. The Workers Club has a long history in the area, originally started back in 1896. Tradies has renovated the club with a new cafe and children’s outdoor playground as well as an updated restaurant, bar, TAB and outdoor deck area.
Tradies has been selected as an ABA100 Winner for HR Management in the Australian Business Awards 2019! The Australian Business Award for HR Management [HRM] recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding results through initiatives that demonstrate excellence in human resource management.
Tradies was recognised as an ABA100 winner for Community Contribution by the Australian Business Awards for our iPromise Sustainability Grants.
Our dedicated Tradies Volunteers were awarded the Volunteer Team of the Year 2018 for the Southern Sydney Region by the NSW Centre for Volunteering.
Tradies support for homeless services in our local community was the winner of a ClubsNSW Clubs & Community Award in 2018.
Our secret ingredient to success is our outstanding team and we were incredibly proud to be recognised as an ABA100 winner for HR Management by the Australian Business Awards.
The success of the Tradies iPromise Sustainability Grants earned us a ClubsNSW Clubs & Community Award in 2016.
The Club won the Education Category of the ClubsNSW Clubs & Community Awards for our work with Menai High School and their programs for Refugee Students.
Tradies famous service took out an ABA100 win in the Australian Business Awards for Service Excellence.
The launch of Max's World Kids Clubs across our 3 venues was recognised by the Australian Business Awards for Brand Excellence.
